What is a DDoS Attack?

A DDoS Attack, or Distributed Denial of Service Attack, is a malicious attempt to interrupt the availability of a server or website, thereby denying users access to the service. These attacks are generally perpetrated using dozens or even hundreds of systems toover-load the network or computing resources available to the target. There are many different types of DDoS attacks, including:

  • Common layer 4 attacks, such as SYN floods;
  • Volumetric UDP attacks, such as DNS and NTP reflection attacks;
  • Application layer attacks, such as HTTP GET attacks;
Any of these attacks can cripple or even completely disable your VPS.

How can we stop them?

UltraVPS has invested in technology that can filter these attacks before they ever reach our network. Using our cloud-based DDoS mitigation technology, we separate the good, valid traffic from the bad malicious traffic, and only allow the good traffic to enter our network. Due to our volume buying power, we've been able to bring this technology to our customers at an incredibly affordable price.
