We are all concerned about the world around us. Clean air, clean water, and making sure the planet is a great place to live for us and for our children are things that are on everyone's mind.
At UltraVPS, we know that the power used by our datacenter to run our servers affects the world around us. With rising energy costs and pollution concerns increasing every day, we decided that the time was now to do our part to make our operations as efficient as possible. As part of implementing these changes within our company, we launched our 'Green Hosting Initiative', a program designed to let our customers know what we are doing to reduce our impact on the environment.
The first step of this program entailed a thorough review of all of our current server hardware configurations to see where improvements in efficiency could be made for future server deployments. As a result of months of research and testing, our engineers have designed all new server configurations that consume 30% to 40% less power than our current models while increasing overall performance. By using eco-friendly components from Intel, Supermicro, Seagate, and Western Digital, sites hosted on our servers will be served faster while using less power - a real win-win situation for our company, our customers, and our community. Finally, there is an environmentally friendly alternative for web hosting customers that doesn't require any sacrifices.
Phase 1 of our Green Hosting Initiative is focused on improving energy usage in the datacenter. Namely, all future server deployments will utilize components from Intel, Supermicro, and Western Digital that are designed to decrease power consumption without sacrificing performance. New server configurations will ultimately consume 30-40% less power than older systems.
Going green is about more than just corporate responsibility, it’s also good business. As we researched our new ‘Eco-Friendly’ hardware configurations, we learned that we can deliver more powerful and reliable hosting solutions while trimming off a huge portion of our energy usage. Not only do we help the environment, but we provide better value to our clients in the process.
